Once upon a time, in a cozy little corner of childhood, there was a tiny black mouse tucked inside a matchbox. That little mouse wasn’t just a toy—it was a best friend, a keeper of secrets, and a spark of imagination. Fast forward a few (ahem… just a few) years, and here I am, still enchanted by tiny mice and miniature worlds.

The moment I discovered Maileg, it was like finding my childhood mouse all over again—but even more delightful, more whimsical, and with a whole family of tiny, beautifully crafted creatures. My children fell in love instantly, and truth be told, I did too. And so, with hearts full of nostalgia and a house full of mice, WeeScones was born!

Wait… WeeScones? Is this a bakery?
​
Oh no, no, no—although I do love to bake! WeeScones is actually a Scottish term of endearment for children, especially used by older generations. We heard it so many times while out and about with our little ones that we just had to name our shop after it! And if you take a peek at our logo, you’ll see a little boy and girl holding mice—those are my very own Wee Scones, Robin and Maya, playing with their beloved Maileg friends.

Why WeeScones?
​
With over a decade of experience nurturing little minds in nurseries and primary schools, I know just how important play and imagination are. That’s why I still juggle my time between teaching and running our little shop—because I simply can’t choose between the two! And as if that weren’t enough, I’m also currently training to become a children’s yoga teacher. (Because, let’s be honest, kids are natural yogis—have you ever seen a toddler in downward dog?!)

Founded in 2021, WeeScones is our family’s love letter to Maileg—a collection that started in our home and now finds its way to Farmer’s Markets in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Each Maileg piece is crafted with such exquisite detail and quality that you can’t help but fall in love (trust me, we’ve tested this theory extensively).
